The Pálacio dos Duques de Bragança was one of the most illustrious and grandiose palaces of 16th c. Lisbon. It became part of the patrimony of the Bragança House as a dowry for the marriage between the owner’s daughter, D. Beatriz, and D. Alfonso (son of D. João II) soon to become Duque de Bragança.
The Palace was the scene of many splendorous events of Portuguese nobility, such as the marriage of Duque D. Teodósio to his cousin D. Isabel de Lancastre, attended by the ambassadors of Emperor Charles V and Henry II of France.
It was also the chosen site for the Restauration of Independence in 1640, one of the most relevant events in Portuguese history.
This historical building has been converted into 38 luxury apartments of one to 6 bedrooms and 10 shops, keeping whenever possible the architectural lines of one of the most grandiose buildings of historical Lisbon, combined with all the comfort provided by the modern interiors and equipments, esplanades, restaurants and designer shops surrounding the São Carlos and São Luiz theatres as well as street performers give the area a vibrant, exciting feeling.
An ideal option for those who enjoy living in the heart of one of the most historic neighbourhoods of Lisbon, Chiado.
