Valencia, Spain, Home of EREN Member Inmobiliaria Rimontgó, to Host 32nd America’s Cup, the first to be held in European waters in the 152-year history of the event

The America’s Cup is internationally known as “the oldest sports trophy in the world.” The races are being held off the coast of Valencia, the third city in Spain for importance.

Strategically located between Madrid and Barcelona, but closer to the first city than is the second one, and strategically located in the Mediterranean, Valencia has been since the 15th century one of the most important commercial cities in Europe. Nowadays Valencia is the first Commercial Port in Spain and since a few years it has become a destiny for more companies wanting to expand their business and this will continue after 2007 because of the investments made by the Spanish, Local and Regional Governments.

Defending the Cup is Alinghi, which won the Cup three years ago in Auckland, New Zealand. Challengers will resume racing next month in the Louis Vuitton Cup to determine which boat will vie for the America’s Cup against Alinghi in the summer of 2007. Switzerland, home of Alinghi, chose Valencia from 164 other candidates to host the regatta in its stead.

In preparation, Valencia is investing €1.5 billion in public monies to modernize the city and new flights are being added throughout Europe to make it even more accessible. The city will host the 12 challengers, each with an average budget of €100 million.

The America’s Cup is expected to draw an audience of millions. “Amongst the spectators are some of the richest fortunes in the world,” says José Ribes Bas, owner of Inmobiliaria Rimontgó.

Members of this global sailing audience are typically affluent and likely to own multiple homes. Should anybody be interested in exploring real estate opportunities in the Valencia area, please contact Inmobiliaria Rimontgó at +34 96 579 1035
