Strategically located between Madrid and Barcelona, but closer to the first city than is the second one, and strategically located in the Mediterranean, Valencia has been since the 15th century one of the most important commercial cities in Europe. In preparation, Valencia is investing €1.5 billion in public monies to modernize the city and new flights are being added throughout Europe to make it even more accessible. The city will host the 12 challengers, each with an average budget of €100 million.
