410 West End Avenue is a Beaux-Arts elevator building, erected on the east side of West End Avenue, between 79th and 80th Street. It was last altered into its current configuration in 1965. The building consists of 7 floors, with 6 apartments per floor, for a total of 42 units, and a cellar. One of the apartments on the first floor is occupied by the live-in superintendent. All apartments have high ceilings, and there are decorative fireplaces in the front apartments. The building’s facade is made of buff-colored brick – covered with cement stucco on the first 2 floors and exposed on the floors above. The entrance door is centered on the facade and is emphasized by a two-story decorative arch that reflects the double-height lobby. Floors 2 through 7 have graduated height windows with decorative lintels. There is a rear yard, accessible from the cellar level to building staff only. The building is well maintained. In 1994 new aluminum double-hung, double-glazed easy-tilt windows were installed throughout. The gas boiler was installed in 2005. There is a separate water heater which can be used in the summer independently when the heating of the building is not required. Recently the rear wall was redone and resurfaced with cement. The elevator mechanism was re-hauled in 2008. The roof is silver-top. The plumbing system consists of copper piping. Tenants pay for their own electricity.
