PALÁCIO SÃO VICENTE – LISBON
Built in 1606 this fantastic Palace is located in the heart of the traditional “Alfama” neighbourhood in front of “S.Vicente de Fora Church” and the National Pantheon.
Commissioned during the reign of King Filipe II by Diogo Soares, the Palace was very popular in the XIX century as it was the social centre of meetings and parties hosted by the socialite “Dona Maria de Noronha” who was famous as being the centre of high culture and society events.
Throughout its history, the Palace knew various owners, one of them Alfredo da Cunha in 1906 left his mark with various ceramic collections from Bigaglia as well as ornate ceiling frescos.
Many books and movies were dedicated to this historical Palace making it a central piece in the architectural, social and cultural history of Lisbon.
