The origins:
The origin of the Castle of Castagneto Po is ancient.
Over the centuries numerous clashes saw the Castle as an important object of conquest because of its strategic position which makes it very important for rulers.
Between 1500 and 1700 Castagneto suffered numerous invasions by the French armies, and with Chivasso was included in the defensive chain of Po.
In 1705 the castle was destroyed and the accounts did Trabucco rebuild the castle on the architect drawings Nicolis de Robilant and completed in 1835 by Ernesto Melano, architect of the King of Italy.
Towards the end of 1800 the property passed to the accounts Ceriana. Arturo Ceriana there was considerable embellishments and added a gallery style'500 designed and finely decorated with marble and carved stones purposes. Two great artists working in Piemonte, Gonin (1808-1889) and Sunny (1829-1893), it occupied the decoration of some rooms.
Subsequently, the castle became the Ceriana the Family Bruni Tedeschi that undertaken major renovation work and making it one of the finest residences of Europe and the exhibitions and events of particular interest.
The castle was once home to Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the First Lady of France.

The Style:
Characterized by Neo-Gothic lines that were added by its last architect, Ernesto Melano, the building spans 2,000 square meters, or around 21,500 square feet, excluding greenhouses and basement floors. The property contains more than 40 rooms and has been redesigned and equipped with modern amenities including elevators, kitchens and baths, and heating systems. Many stunning original details remain or have been restored, such as ancient boiseries, marqueteri floors, several hallway frescoes, majestic fireplaces, and fine marbles.
To note is the gallery designed in '500 style and decorated with finely carved marble and stone purposes. Two major artists working in Piemonte, Gonin (1808-1889) and Sereno (1829-1893), dealt with the decor of some rooms.

The Park:
This magnificent property stands nestled amid English-style parkland conceived by Saverio Kurten and encompassing 70 hectares, or almost 173 acres. Vegetable gardens, orchards, wide flowered terraces, ancient greenhouses, a caretaker’s house, and a farm building are harmoniously arranged for an exquisite aesthetic.
