The finest beaches of Spain

The finest beaches of SpainAnyone who visits Spain will return telling you how some of Europe’s best beaches are found here. It is hardly surprising that with its turquoise waters, world class resorts, stunning beaches and an impressive 8,000 km of coastline, five beaches in Spain feature in the list of TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ choice. Included in their list of top ten European beach resorts were Puerto Alcudia, Puerto del Carmen, Playa del Inglés, Corralejo and Benidorm.

Puerto Alcudia

Results of the voting showed this beach to be the third best in Europe, with a location northeast of Mallorca. It is one of the most extensive and attractive beaches in Mallorca with eight kilometres of crystal blue water and breathtaking white sand. It is regarded as one of the “blue flag” beaches, an achievement that underlines the quality of the beach. Its port offers various superb bars, cafés, restaurants, nightclubs and even a water park, and is also an ideal place to take part in sporting activities such as golf, sailing, water skiing and windsurfing.

The finest beaches of SpainLocated between Altea and Alicante on the Costa Blanca, Benidorm, one of the largest and most influential resorts found in Europe, gained fifth place. Benidorm has a very individual skyline which lends it the popular nickname the “Manhattan of Spain”. The urban area is encompassed by beautiful scenery and contains two excellent beaches, the Poniente and Levante. These resorts offer both tranquillity and activities to keep you entertained. With golden sands reaching over six kilometres from Levante beach to Poniente, this resort also has blue flag status. Here you can also enjoy the various cafés, shops and restaurants as well as a variety of water sports.

People on the hunt for somewhere to take part in fun activities such as beach games and water sports find their needs catered for at Levante Beach, also known as “Sunrise Beach”. Enjoy a more tranquil ambience on Poniente Beach that lies beyond the old town. It is a less crowded beach and enjoys popularity amongst locals and families, yet still has superb facilities where you can dine, swim and relax.
