12 perfect plans for an action-packed day in Valencia

The time of year you find yourself in Valencia doesn’t matter, they are all great, but if you decide to visit the city in summer time, here we recommend 12 plans for you to do in a day if you decide to.

Malvarrosa Beach

1. Getting up early to buy the fresh products that have just arrived to the Mercat Central and walk around or try something from some of the stalls is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to start the day.

2. Visiting the MuVIM, which celebrates an endless amount of events and exhibitions, as well as the IVAM, two of the most modern museums in the city. If you are more traditional, stop by San Pío V; although there are other options such as Museo de la Seda or Museo Fallero.

3. Strolling through El Cabanyal, one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Valencia, and discover the typical fishing houses and the seafood cuisine that, thanks to the municipal projects with the aim to revive this Poblados Marítimos district, it has risen in value. If you still don’t know this area, this is an excellent opportunity to do it and to taste some of the culinary proposals.

4. Enjoying the beaches such as La Patacona, La Malvarrosa and Las Arenas or the Marina de València, where nautical sports lovers can practice activities such as rowing, snorkeling, sailing and surfing.

Barrio del Carmen (Valencia)

5. Trying one of the most famous dishes on an international level from the Valencian cuisine: paella. You can’t leave without tasting an authentic Valencian paella, especially, if it is in an Alquería (a typical building from the Horta of Valencia) such as El Brosquil or L’Alqueria del Pi.

6. Relaxing or exploring some of the most beautiful parks in Valencia such as the Turia River Bed Gardens, Cabecera Park that boast unrivalled views to the lake and the Viveros Gardens that present noteworthy vegetation, is always an excellent idea.

7. Getting close to the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències that this summer hosts events such as the monologues of “La Nit del Museo”, the spectacular production of “Las Nocturnas” in Hemisfèric or the dolphin spectacle ‘LLUM’ in the Oceanogràfic.

8. Snacking on the sea front in the heart of La Patacona beach is possible thanks to La Más Bonita. This pastry shop located in the heart of Ruzafa, now allows you to relish in their delicacies on the frontline of the beach.

9. Visiting L’Albufera in Valencia is almost obligatory. You can ride around on one of the typical boats and watch the sun set from any of the docks they have along the way.

10. Trying the famous Horchata with fartons, a typical Valencian drink elaborated with the tiger nut plant. Daniel is the most emblematic ice-cream shop in Valencia, so you cannot resist trying the quintessential Valencian drink in their terraces.

11. Enjoying a cinema session outdoors in the Star of Pinedo drive-in cinema, in terraces such as Lumiere, Teatro Flumen, in the Filmoteca d’Estiu or, even, in Sagunto, Valencia or Alboraya beaches.

12. Going out for drinks by the Marina, one of the liveliest areas during the summer that unseats Ruzafa and El Carmen. The Marina Beach Club, as well as Veles e Vents or the bars on Paseo de Neptuno have transformed into a place to worship in summer.
