Fall in love this summer with the Costa Blanca and its wonderful beaches and coves

Cliffs surrounding La Granadella beach

Throughout the summer period, a wide variety of visitors are drawn to the Costa Blanca and its charming areas, including Altea, Moraira, Jávea and Denia. The coast is scattered with numerous beaches and coves, and is perfect for families with young children, as well as water sport enthusiasts and those who enjoy the peace and quiet of hidden coves.

Muchavista Beach’s beautiful backdrop

Two beaches worth highlighting near the city of Alicante are San Juan and (by extension) Muchavista. These large beaches stretch between the promenade and the seafront, and their crystal-clear waters, white sands and excellent service are popular with summer tourists and the inhabitants of Alicante alike. This does not mean, however, that San Juan and Muchavista are particularly overcrowded. On the contrary, in fact, they are free from mass tourism, and are therefore strongly recommended for families who prefer quieter, better quality beaches.

Tourists in search of a service which is second-to-none are advised to visit Jávea, where the beaches and coves on offer are as famous as the people who have bathed there. Cala Sardinera is a cove featuring beautifully calm waters which are accessible via a track running from the Portitxol viewpoint, while La Granadella has been the setting for a number of films, including The Cold Light Of Day, starring Bruce Willis and Henry Cavill. The latter is also perfect for diving. Notable beaches in this region are Playa del Arenal and Playa del Primer Montañar, home to the famous La Siesta and Montgo Di Bongo beach bars. These bars are open from breakfast until late at night, and have been in fashion for decades.

Picturesque skyline, Denia beach
Denia is another city offering miles of beaches and pristine waters, as well as other tourist attractions in its urban areas. Lovers of sports such as snorkelling and scuba diving can enjoy themselves on small beaches, like the breathtaking Les Rotes, while those who prefer a quieter life will feel at home relaxing, reading and bathing in the sea on Les Marines.

Houses in Cala de Portitxol
If the areas already mentioned still have not satisfied your appetite for enjoyment and relaxation, the Costa Blanca features many other unique environments which bring beauty and diversity together. Other beaches and coves which should not be forgotten are La Caleta in Villajoyosa, Cap Blanc, near to Teulada-Moraira, and Cap Negret in Altea.
